"Be Strong" - poem excerpt by Maltbie D. Babcok

BE STRONG!
We are not here to play, to dream, to drift;
We have hard work to do, and loads to lift.
Shun not the struggle; face it.
IT'S GOD'S GIFT.
BE STRONG!

Say not the days are evil - Who's to blame?
Or gold your hands, as in defeat - O shame!
Stand up, speak out, and bravely
IN GOD'S NAME
BE STRONG!

It matters not how deep entrenched the wrong,
How hard the battle goes, the day how long,
Faint not, fight on!
TOMORROW COMES THE SONG

- Maltbie D. Babcok

"In Him lie hidden all the treasures of WISDOM and KNOWLEDGE.."
- only through Him we can get wisdom and knowledge: not through education as beneficial as that may be, not through people or being in contact with the right group, but through Him

"And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to live in OBEDIENCE to Him."
- we continue to obey the Lord, just as when we first received Him
- reminds me of Rev 2:4 and 1 John 5:3

"Let your roots grow down INTO HIM and draw up nourishment FROM HIM, so you will GROW IN FAITH, STRONG and VIGOROUS in the truth you were taught."
- the only way we can grow in faith, and become strong and vigorous is to let our roots grow down into Him and draw up our nourishment from Him
- reminds me of Psalm 1:1-3"

"Let your lives overflow with THANKSGIVING for all He has done."
- as He strengthens us and grows us in faith, our natural response should be thankfulness
- our lives should be a thankful symphony to Him
- reminds me of 1 Thes 5:18
